About the department

The Department of Urology & Renal Transplantation at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital has been functioning since 1987. It has consistently delivered comprehensive and high-quality urological care to patients from the western districts of Tamil Nadu and neighboring regions of Kerala and Karnataka. The department is committed to serving the underprivileged and providing advanced surgical services through both open and endoscopic techniques.

Head of the Department

Dr. P. R. Saravanan, MS, MCh (Urology), FRCS (Edinburgh), is the Head of the Department of Urology & Renal Transplantation. With 19 years of experience in urology since completing his MCh in 2006, Dr. Saravanan is renowned for his surgical expertise and compassionate patient care. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and an active member of the Urological Society of India, Association of Southern Urology, and the Indian Medical Association. Under his leadership, the department has expanded its scope of advanced endo-urological and laparoscopic surgeries.

During her graduate work, she was a student at The American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA) and was a field walker and camp manager at the Eastern Korinthia Archaeogical Survey (EKAS). Katherine spent three years in a rotating position at schools in the Associated Colleges of the South (Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX; Furman University in Greenville, SC; and Rhodes College in Memphis, TN).
