About the department

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for patients suffering from musculoskeletal and functional impairments caused by orthopedic, neurological, rheumatological, post-surgical, post-traumatic, post-burn sequelae, and congenital deformities. The department comprises a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team including Physiatrists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Orthotic and Prosthetic Technicians. Notably, the Artificial Limb Subcentre at PMR is a pioneering facility in Tamil Nadu, manufacturing lightweight endoskeletal prostheses under the CMCHIS scheme. The department also serves as the nodal center for issuing disability certificates to differently abled individuals with locomotor disabilities.
