About the department
Coimbatore Medical College, a distinguished institution in Tamil Nadu, houses a vibrant Department of Anatomy renowned for its cutting-edge facilities and commitment to medical education. The department boasts a spacious dissection hall, a well-equipped histology laboratory, and a unique museum showcasing rare dry and wet specimens. Actively engaging in academic and community initiatives, it hosts an annual CME for Anatomy Day, featuring Gross Anatomy posters and Histology presentations, while also organizing rallies to raise awareness about voluntary body donation. With a dedicated team comprising one professor (HOD in-charge), two associate professors, and five assistant professors, the department fosters excellence in teaching, research, and public service, solidifying its role as a cornerstone of medical learning.

Dr. L. Madhan, MD, D-Diab
Professor Dr. L. Madhan, MD, D-Diab, is the Head of the Department of Pharmacology at Coimbatore Medical College since March 1, 2021. With over 24 years of academic experience—spanning roles as Tutor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor—he plays a pivotal role in shaping the department. He serves as Member Secretary of both the Institutional Animal Ethics and Drug Committees, Pharmacologist in the Human Ethics Committee, and Coordinator for the Pharmacovigilance Centre and Causality Committee. As Nodal Officer for the District Residency Programme, Dr. Madhan actively advances medical education, research, and public health, notably delivering a session on “Pharmacovigilance Beyond ADR Monitoring” in 2023.
