The Department of Nephrology at Coimbatore Medical College was established in the year 1966, with a vision to deliver advanced renal care and training. Over the decades, it has grown into a center of excellence offering comprehensive services like hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, hemoperfusion, plasmapheresis, CRRT, HDF, CAPD, APD, and renal transplantation. The department has been instrumental in saving thousands of lives and continues to play a vital role in nephrology education and patient care.

Dr. R. Arul, MD, DM, is the Head of the Department of Nephrology. With over 12 years of professional experience, Dr. Arul is a distinguished nephrologist known for his clinical expertise and academic contributions. He is an active member of several prestigious bodies including the Indian Society of Nephrology, Indian Society of Organ Transplantation, Indian Society of Renal Transplant Pathology, and Natpu. His commitment to patient care and renal research has significantly advanced the department’s reputation.
