Coimbatore Medical College is one of the leading government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu, India. It is located in Avinashi Road in the city of Coimbatore,TamilNadu ,India , about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from Coimbatore International Airport. The college was established in 1966 after G D Naidu, a scientist from an industrial family of the city, donated the 153 acres of land to the Tamil Nadu state government under the Chief Minister K. Kamaraj. The college is attached to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) CMCH is located on Trichy Road near Lanka Corner and was established in 1909 during the British Raj

Establishment of the Medical College:
- 1966 – Coimbatore Medical College was established through a donation of 153 acres of land by G. D. Naidu, a scientist and industrialist, to the Tamil Nadu Government. The donation occurred during the tenure of Chief Minister K. Kamaraj.
- 24 November 1969 – The Directorate of Medical Education took over the hospital, which was officially renamed Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
The history of CMC
Origins of the Hospital:
1908 —The foundation stone for what would become the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) was laid by Lord Ampthill, Governor of Madras.
14 July 1909 —The hospital was officially inaugurated.
1 April 1912 —The hospital administration was taken over by the Madras Government from the Coimbatore municipality.
13 August 1959 —Golden Jubilee celebrations were held, with participation from high-ranking officials, including the Governor of Madras, Sri Bishnuram Medhi.
